I want to say thank you to everyone who comes by to my corner of the web to read this little ol' blog of mine. I appreciate you beyond words and I look forward to many more posts, contests and fun finds to share with you in 2009.

The last few weeks have been hectic in a wonderful way and as of tomorrow we are on vacation for a few days. So… we want to take this moment to wish you all a healthy, happy holiday season! We'll be back in blogging action soon… So until then…

Unique Los Angeles

A marketplace for independent, local designs and crafty fun

If battling your way through over crowded parking lots, standing in endless lines only to deal with testy, tired employees who could care less if you get that last Elmo doll makes your skin itch, here's a chance to skip the dreaded mall all together and do some truly unique shopping. And you'll be helping out a good cause while you're at it.

Unique Los Angeles is a two day event showcasing over 200 independent designers, artists and merchants from the L.A. area. 50% of tickets sales go to support Create Now!, a local arts-based charity for high-risk youths.  Tickets are $5 and if you visit the Unique Blog they'll tell you how you can receive some cool gifts just for purchasing tickets in advance. 

 

Unique Los Angeles was formed to bring together creative talent and support local shopping. It's an opportunity to discover new designers, artists and other creative and handmade goods. Think of a live version of ETSY.  Some of the event's special collections examples include:

• The eco-friendly Green Room features environmentally friendly merchants.

• The Hot Mama/Cool Baby area has plenty of trendy items for the little ones.

• Gallery Row showcases eclectic artists, painters, photographers and more.

December is a hectic month. It's been a crazy one for me between preparing for the holidays, opening my new Etsy shop and of course taking care of Ava – who lately has decided to give us a sneak preview of what the "terrible twos" might be like.  It feels like I'm behind in everything these days.  I hear people saying how they finished their holiday shopping weeks ago. Their presents are wrapped and under their tree which has been up and twinkling since Thanksgiving. Their cards are all meticulously signed mailed out.  I want to be one of those people this year, but it just ain't happening.  So if you are like me and still have a mile long to-do list, here's some hope. We're not too late…

Announcing FREE Shipping Day on December 18th! Mark your calendars and get your net surfing fingers ready. Free Shipping Day will help you get your shopping done and delivered on time.  December 18th is a coordinated day for a long and growing list of merchants such as Target, Nordstrom and Apple who are all offering - you guessed it - free shipping and guaranteed delivery in time for the holidays.

And if you still end up waiting until the very last minute, here is a list of absolute cut-off dates for over 250 merchants to get your packages there in time.  And keep in mind, Hanukkah starts on Wednesday, December 21st this year.
