The Topanga Mall tops them all
If you are in the San Fernando Valley and you are looking for a good indoor place to visit with your baby, head over to the newly remodeled and greatly improved, Topanga Mall. It’s now a high end mall yet it has the convenience of an attached Target. You can buy that new Coach bag you’ve had your eye on or stop in at Tiffany’s and then pick up diapers on your way out. There is also an assortment of baby stores such as Baby GAP, Children’s Place and Janie & Jack. It’s a very convenient mall, but it’s also so much more…
The Topanga Mall has beautiful “family” rooms. The family area, located in the upstairs food court, has an array of amenities including: several modern marble changing stations, a microwave, bottle warmer, sitting area with a flat screen television, privacy rooms for breast feeding and a family size bathroom complete with a pint size toilet and sink. It’s so nice to have a place to take care of your babies needs. There is another family room on the first floor with one changing station. It’s much smaller, but still has the privacy rooms and is just as comfortable. I would come here with Ava when she was a still a newborn and I could conveniently and discreetly take care of all of her needs. It’s an easy, relaxing environment and it gave me a place to go when I needed to rejoin civilization in those first few months. Now we go there on rainy days or errand days or if we just feel like getting out and about for a while.
The food court is the nicest food court I have ever seen in a mall. They have several Japanese restaurants, upscale deli and sandwich shops, dessert areas including yogurt and gelato, along with old standards such as Panda Express. If you are in the mood for a sit down restaurant, this mall has a nice variety. I have lunched with Ava at The Farm several times and have had nice, friendly experiences. There is enough room for a stroller or they will bring you a high chair. The staff is courteous and helpful and the food is light and tasty. I have also dined at the restaurant inside Nordstrom with my mommy friends and three strollers. The staff was friendly and welcoming and we comfortably enjoyed lunch with the babies. I’m looking forward to trying some of the other sit-down restaurants the mall has to offer.
The Topanga Mall also has handy valet service on the first level. I have used this a few times when parking was scarce. They do charge a hefty $7 fee, but it’s worth it if you can’t find a spot and you need a little convenience (and as new a new mom, I’m always in need of that!). The other service I love is the car wash located on the second level. I use this all of the time. In fact, this is really the only way my car gets washed these days. It’s a great way to multi-task… get your car washed, get a primo parking spot, spend the day lunching at the mall and run your errands at Target before you head home. That is a good day if you ask me.
